Men's Ice Hockey Drops Season Opener in Overtime at SNHU

HOOKSETT, N.H. – On Saturday evening, the Framingham State Rams faced off against the Southern New Hampshire Penmen in a closely contested hockey game that ended in a 4-3 overtime loss for the Rams. The game took place at the Ice Den Arena in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

  • Score: Southern New Hampshire 4, Framingham State 3 (OT) 

  • Records: Southern New Hampshire (1-0-0), Framingham State (0-1-0)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • Southern New Hampshire responded with two goals in the second period, taking a 2-1 lead into the third. 

  • The Penmen regained the lead midway through the third period, but Brent Scott quickly equalized for the Rams, sending the game into overtime. 

  • In the overtime period, Ryan Kayser scored the game-winning goal for Southern New Hampshire, assisted by Brendan Lynch. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Framingham State was outshot by Southern New Hampshire 26-46. 

  • The Rams went 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Penmen were 0-for-2.
