Volleyball Falls Short in Five-Set Thriller Against Suffolk

Framingham, Mass. – In a closely contested match, the Framingham State volleyball team fell to Suffolk in a five-set thriller on Tuesday night. In the battle of the Rams, FSU fought hard but ultimately came up short, losing 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 14-16. 

THE BASICS:

  • Set Scores: 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 18-25, 14-16 

  • Records: Framingham State (5-3), Suffolk (3-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The match was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading sets. Suffolk took the first set 25-22, but Framingham State responded by winning the second set 26-24. 

  • The Rams continued their momentum into the third set, securing a 25-23 victory. However, Suffolk bounced back in the fourth set, winning 25-18 to force a decisive fifth set. 

  • In the final set, Suffolk edged out Framingham State 16-14 to clinch the match. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

Framingham State: 

  • Jaimee Lowe led the Rams with an impressive 15 kills, showcasing her offensive prowess throughout the match. 

  • Natalie Reynolds contributed significantly with 10 kills, providing consistent support on the attack. 

  • Sarah Medeiros added 9 kills, demonstrating her ability to find gaps in Suffolk's defense. 

  • Jamie Moniz had a strong performance with 7 kills and 1 block solo, making her presence felt at the net. 

  • Stella Bailey was instrumental in setting up plays, recording 37 assists and adding 4 service aces. 

Suffolk:  

  • Grace Cervenka was a standout for Suffolk with 19 kills and 4 block solos, leading her team both offensively and defensively. 

  • Chloe Clement had a solid performance with 14 kills, contributing to Suffolk's attacking efforts. 

  • Jordyn Mik also made a significant impact with 10 kills and 5 service aces, showcasing her versatility on the court. 

  • Emily Norgrove and Emmy Thomander provided additional support with 5 and 4 kills, respectively, and strong defensive plays. 

UP NEXT: 

The Rams participate in a tri-match at Curry College on Saturday, taking on the hosts at 11 am followed by a 1pm match with Thomas (ME).
