Volleyball Sails Through Vikings in MASCAC Quarterfinal

Framingham, Mass. – The third-seeded Framingham State volleyball team swept the sixth-seeded Salem State Vikings in straight sets in the quarterfinal round of the MASCAC Tournament Tuesday evening in Logan Gymnasium. The Rams will advance to play the second-seeded Westfield State Owls in the semi-final round on Thursday in Westfield. 

THE BASICS: 

  • Score: Framingham State 3, Salem State 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) 

  • Records: Framingham State (16-12, 6-2 MASCAC), Salem State (10-14, 3-5 MASCAC) 

  • Location: Richard Logan Gymnasium, Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

  • The Rams came out strong in the first set, hitting an impressive .314 with 12 kills and only one error. They maintained their momentum throughout the match, with standout performances from Natalie Reynolds and Jamie Moniz. 

  • In the second set, Framingham State continued to dominate, hitting .341 with 15 kills. The Rams' defense also played a crucial role, limiting the Vikings to a .196 hitting percentage. 

  • The third set saw the Rams close out the match with a .250 hitting percentage, while Salem State struggled to find their rhythm, hitting just .050. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • Natalie Reynolds led the Rams with 16 kills and a .609 hitting percentage, contributing 18 points to the team's total. 

  • Jamie Moniz added 8 kills with a .538 hitting percentage, while also contributing defensively with one solo block and one block assist. 

  • Stella Bailey orchestrated the offense with 34 assists and added 3 service aces.
