McCarthy Selected NEFC Offensive Co-Player of the Week

Framingham, Mass.  — Junior wide receiver James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.) has been selected the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Offensive Co-Player of the Week for the week ending October 2nd.  McCarthy shares Offensive Player of the Week honors with Endicott College junior quarterback Phil Konopka.   

McCarthy was the Rams offensive spark in a 48-20 Homecoming Day victory over Massachusetts Maritime on Saturday afternoon in Framingham.  McCarthy led the FSU offense with a game-high 14 receptions for a career-high 212 yards with five touchdowns.  McCarthy, who caught touchdown passes of 39, 64, 24, 5 and 28 yards, broke three Ram single game records including TD receptions in a game (5), most TDs in a game (5), and most points in a game (30).   

The Rams, who are now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in NEFC Divisional play, return to action next Saturday at Fitchburg State at 1:30 p.m.
