McCarthy Named Preseason All-American
Framingham, Mass. – Senior wide receiver James McCarthy (Newton, Mass.) has been named to the D3 Senior Classic 2011 Preseason All-America Team. McCarthy, one of eight New England Football Conference (NEFC) players honored, was a first team selection along with Endicott linebacker Kevin Eagen and Bridgewater State fullback Justin Fuller.
The D3 Senior Classic is the premier post season all-star game showcasing the talent of senior players on the NCAA Division III football level. The third annual game will be held the weekend of December 10, 2011 at Salem Stadium, home of NCAA Division III National Championship game in Salem, Virginia. Only players entering their senior seasons are eligible to be named to the teams.
McCarthy is coming off an outstanding junior season where he led the nation in scoring and rewrote the Rams record book establishing seven new records for receiving and scoring. He became the first FSU receive to amass over 1,000 yards receiving in a season. In 2010 McCarthy made 62 catches for 1,100 yards with 22 touchdowns as he was honored with the Zibilski Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston and as an ECAC All-Star, a New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England selection, a D3football.com 2010 All-East Region first team selection and a first team NEFC All-Bogan Division selection.

The D3 Senior Classic Football game is sponsored by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL). The D3 Senior Classic will post a player "watch" list throughout the upcoming season and nominations are welcome from all fans and followers of D3 football.
