Bugarin's Late Goal Lifts Rams Past Salem State, 6-5

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Scott Bugarin scored with 49 seconds remaining to give Framingham State a 6-5 victory over Salem State in MASCAC action Saturday evening at Loring Arena in Framingham.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • First Period: Salem State struck first with Carson Whitman scoring at 3:47, and Landyn Greatorex added a power-play goal to make it 2-0. The Rams responded with three unanswered goals to take the lead. Grig Kaagan got Framingham State on the board at 8:28, Anthony Venezia scored shorthanded at 13:01, and Bugarin netted his first of the game at 16:36 to give the Rams a 3-2 advantage after one period.
  • Second Period: Sam Larkin extended the Framingham State lead to 4-2 just 23 seconds into the period. Christopher Dowd answered for Salem State at 3:04, but Jeremy Zecher restored the two-goal cushion at 10:32. Ryan Barrett cut the deficit to 5-4 with 2:31 remaining in the frame.
  • Third Period: Whitman tied the game at 5-5 with his second goal of the night at 15:49. Bugarin delivered the winner with 49 seconds left, collecting the puck and beating Hunter Thomas to send the home crowd into celebration.
